The George Washington Parkway Classic 10 Miler and 5K was held on Sunday, April 21st 2013.  Seth Hutchinson of Charlottesville, VA finished first in the Men’s Overall for the 10 Miler with a time of 50 minutes and 56 seconds, while Shannon Miller finished in the Women’s Overall with a time of 1 hour, 1 minute and 5 seconds.  Get the full results of both the 10 miler and the 5k here.

The Parkway Classic was held this year in honor of Peter Laboy, an Alexandria Police Officer who was shot in the line-of-duty earlier this year.  Alexandria Police personnel were collecting donations for Laboy’s recovery during the race.  The race also offered the opportunity for runners to honor the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing.  All runners were provided with memorial blue/yellow ribbons to honor the victims, while many of those in the Washington, DC area who had actually run in the Boston Marathon wore their Marathon Runners’ jackets to honor their fellow runners.
